➡️ Each hospital does their own training so it may all depend, but based on my personal experience I was placed on orientation for almost 4 months. ⠀
⠀
➡️ I had preceptors that taught me all I needed to know. My hospital also provided separate lecture classes to teach us the basics on how to care for our patients. They also helped us to understand the patho on why we do the things we do. ⠀
⠀
➡️ In nursing school, I did my senior preceptorship in the NICU. So I did have experience being in a NICU setting. ⠀
⠀
➡️ However, every hospital has their own policies and guidelines and so not everything will be the same from what you’ve learned in other facilities. Honestly, my nursing school experience in the NICU was so different than my work experience now. ⠀
⠀
➡️ Be flexible and open minded and always come with a willingness to learn new things. ⠀

🤔 Does your school allow you to choose a specialty? Do you have to do a senior preceptorship/senior focus/senior practicum?
