š As a 4 year NICU nurse, I am considering my options to advance further into my career. Here are a list of advancement options for those who are interested in becoming NICU nurses and the paths you can take as you grow further into your career: ā

ā”ļø Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - BSN, minimum 2 years bedside, and then 2-3 years NNP program (depending on how accelerated you want).ā
ā
ā”ļø Charge Nurse - preferred BSN, just depends on how many years of experience you have, and each hospital requirements vary. ā
ā
ā”ļø Resuscitation Nurse - delivery training provided by your unit depending on how many years of experience you have. ā
ā
ā”ļø Transport Nurse - years of bedside experience, resuscitation experience, extensive training, various certifications required (intubation, line placement, etc). Each hospital requirements vary. ā
ā
ā”ļø ECMO Nurse - years of bedside experience, extensive ECMO training and courses provided by your unit. ā
ā
ā”ļø Nurse Educator - BSN, Minimum 2 years of experience, and then masters in clinical education (MSN-CNS).ā
